CONTEST: D1E in My Next Book!

My next novel, #VANDEATH, comes out ONE WEEK from today! To celebrate, I’m doing one last preorder contest. Preorders are super helpful for authors, they’re a signal to booksellers to stock more copies of the book, to publishers to put more marketing muscle behind the book, etc. So if you dig my books and want to read more of them in the future, preordering #VANDEATH would be awesome!

And here’s the good news: preordering not only gets you a copy of the book, as well as an exclusive swag package if you order through my local independent bookstore, Mysterious Galaxy, but it also scores you a chance to DIE in my next book! Keep reading for more details.

That’s right, I’m going to pick one lucky winner to play a corpse in my as-yet-unannounced horror novel. I can’t say much at this point, but there IS a possession angle, and I guarantee your death will be memorable.

To enter:

  1. Preorder #VANDEATH in any format (print, audio, ebook)

  2. OR request from your local library

  3. Email your preorder receipt (or library request form) to brianasman0@gmail.com

  4. Include a mailing address and I’ll send you a free sticker!

You have until 9/22, the day #VANDEATH comes out, to enter, at which point I’ll randomly select a winner. That person will have a character named after them in my upcoming novel who will die a horrible death.

If you’ve previously preordered #VANDEATH (THANK YOU!), you are STILL ELIGIBLE! Just send me your receipt via the instructions above. And as a reminder, everybody who enters gets a free sticker if you send me your address. It’s a cool sticker, you’ll dig it.

About #VANDEATH:

"Buckle up. #VanDeath moves like a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter burning rubber to escape a masked killer. The violence is visceral and the imagery sticks to the windshield, but this wild ride also has genuine heart."--Luke Dumas, USA Today bestselling author of Nothing Tastes as Good

Two feuding #VanLife influencers must put aside their differences in order to survive when they are stalked by a masked killer in a remote stretch of Death Valley.

Morgan and Jasper are the couple everyone wants to be: beautiful, successful, and constantly mobile. Their #VanLife content has captured the hearts and minds of a million online followers, who all "smash that subscribe button" to watch as the loving couple documents their outdoor adventures.

But it's all a sham. Their relationship is on the rocks. Jasper doesn't know Morgan's trolling the dating apps. Morgan doesn't know Jasper blew all their earnings on shady crypto investments. What started as a fun way to share their love of nature has turned into a grind. Plus, they've also got stalkers: fans whose parasocial obsession with the couple verges on the terrifying.

When Jasper gets a contract to shoot a promo for an upstart granola company at the Ubehebe Crater, a gorgeous but remote section of Death Valley, he talks Morgan into a last-minute trip. He's secretly hoping this trip will not only solve their financial woes but also help them reconcile. But things go wrong immediately. A mysterious black van runs them off the road. Their cameraman seems like a lunatic. And soon, they find themselves stranded in the desert, pursued by a masked killer. Can Morgan and Jasper put aside their differences long enough to survive both the killer and the desert itself?
